Philippines is an archipelago in South-East Asia of more than seven thousand islands located between the Philippine Sea and the South China Sea at the southeastern edge of Asia. The Philippines is an archipelago that consists of 7,641 islands (by some counts 7,107) with a total land area of 301,780 square kilometers (116,518 sq mi), an extent comparable to Vietnam or California. The archipelago lies at roughly the same latitude as Thailand or Vietnam and same longitude as Taiwan or Korea.
